Karen's Review Of
Schloss Hotel Chastè:
Schloss Hotel Chastè:
The deluxe Schloss Hotel Chastè is in a tiny village in a gorgeous high meadow of the glorious Engadine Valley, bounded by the soaring peaks of the majestic Dolomites. Completing the idyllic scene is the picturesque Tarasp Castle. Until the turn of the century, the hotel was a farmhouse, and incredibly has been in the same family since it was built in 1480. When Tarasp Castle was being renovated in 1912, Anton Pazeller, the grandfather of the present owner, opened a small restaurant to accommodate tourists coming to see the castle. His grandson, your gracious host, Rudolf Pazeller, trained as a chef and returned home to expand the hotel and add a gourmet restaurant. The façade is in the traditional Engadine style, painted white and accented with intricate designs. Pink geraniums cascade from every window box. Inside, you find beautiful carved-wood paneling and country-style furnishings throughout, which create a charming, rustic ambiance. The bedrooms are individual in decor, but all have a cozy look with furniture made from various woods native to the Engadine. The hotel also has a great spa with sauna and steambath. This is a lovely inn in an idyllic setting. Just steps from the hotel, walking paths lead off in every direction.

Our stay at the Schloss Hotel Chaste was the highlight of our recent trip to Europe. It is an absolute jewel off of the beaten path, in a charming little village overlooked by a beautiful castle. The hotel exudes charm, with gorgeous flowers cascading everywhere. No detail has been overlooked, and every square inch of this hotel is absolutely perfect. The rooms are charming and romantic, with beautiful pine paneling everywhere. The hosts are as kind and accommodating as we had heard. Rudi wen...
