Romantik Hotel Chesa Grischuna

I visited the Chesa Grischuna for inclusion in the first edition of our guide to Switzerland and 12 years later the vivid memories of that visit lingered with such pleasure that I knew if the hotel still existed, I would want to include it. The season was different, winter’s cozy blanket of snow having given way with spring to clusters of brightly colored flowers, but the interior was as I remembered—romantic and warm. Mellow, weathered paneling enriches most of the public rooms, while antique furnishings and accents of copper pieces and artistic flower arrangements blend beautifully. All the rooms have been renovated and the bedrooms achieve the country feeling, utilizing charming provincial wallpapers and matching fabrics, traditional Swiss furniture, exposed beams, and gently sloping floors. Some of the bedrooms are small, but all are nicely decorated. The dining room, with a country-formal atmosphere, is exceptional in cuisine and service. The personality of the staff matches the character and charm of the inn. The Romantik Hotel Chesa Grischuna never disappoints us—it always remains a favorite.
