Hotel Weisses Kreuz has been sold and is currently not taking reservations while it is being remodeled.

 

The Weisses Kreuz, located within the medieval walls of Murten, has been in the Bischoff family for over 80 years and demonstrates the warmth and special caring that comes only with owner-managed properties. The hotel consists of four very old buildings. One part of the hotel is a modern, white reception area with stairs leading up to a lovely dining room highlighted by a giant crystal chandelier. One wall is dominated by an oil painting of Swiss soldiers preparing to fight Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, in a historically important battle that took place in Murten in 1476. If the Swiss army had lost, Switzerland might today belong to France. On warm days, meals are served outside on a magnificent balcony with a panoramic view of Lake Murten. Not only is the view stunning, but the food is outstanding. (The restaurant has the coveted Fish Medallion.) The majority of the rooms are across the street in old, charming, adjoining houses. Here the rooms come in every imaginable type of style and size ranging from vast rooms with antiques to doubles with contemporary decor. Rooms in the main building have the advantage of an elevator and several have French doors opening to balconies and wonderful lake views.
