Staying at the Hotel Los Castanos, reflects the experience of staying within the beautiful Andalucian mountain village of Cartajima. The hotel nestles inconspicuously and congruently amongst all the other whitewashed buildings, homes and the church. There are a myriad of small interweaving roads, paths and steps. They cascade with colourful plants and flowers that lead to the door. The mountain views are breathtaking and spectacular. Once through the door, a world of understated hospitality opens up. During our stays in the Spring and Autumn of 2009, we felt like honoured guests who were treated more like old friends than hotel clients. There is so much attention to detail, and no request is too much trouble whatever the time. The rooms and open areas are extremely comfortable with beautiful decor. The roof-garden is an oasis of peace and tranquility. The hotel, just like the village, is full of beauty and peacefulness. To cap all this, the food is of outstanding quality and is delicious. The walking potential seems endless, with fascinating wildlife and an abundance of plants and flowers. Di and John are special hosts, a mine of local information and they provide a remarkable and memorable stay in this unspoilt and undiscovered part of Spain deep in the Andalucian hills. Carajima maybe a remote mountain village, yet it's very close to the historic town of Ronda. A stay at Los Castanos always leaves us feeling relaxed and restored. We have stayed at several of your recommended hotels and B&Bs over the years, and have always been happy with your suggestions. We recently stayed at a wonderful small hotel, in a tiny pueblo blanco (Cartajima) near Ronda, in the south of Spain. We highly recommend Los Castanos.
