Otters Pond Bed & Breakfast

The two most remarkable things about Otters Pond are, without a doubt, its setting and its hot tub. The setting: a thick wood near Moran State Park with a 20-acre pond of protected wetland; complete with visits from eagles, trumpeter swans, wood ducks, and, yes, an otter, who usually shows up around lunchtime looking for duck eggs. The hot tub: a therapeutic sensation, poised at the pond’s edge and sheltered inside a Japanese-style "teahouse" with sliding doors, like shoji screens, to open or close—depending on the weather and your desire for privacy. Guests arriving at this French country-style home are supplied with slippers for padding softly on the polished, hardwood floors and Oriental carpets. Guests are encouraged to relax in the sitting room, the cozy library, or on the deck overlooking the pond. The sitting room takes advantage of the pond setting, complete with binoculars and spotting scope. Bedrooms are cheerful, and yet formal, with fresh bouquets, skylights, and views of the pond and surrounding forest. In the morning, your five-course breakfast is served with all the best crystal and sterling silver.
