Cabins-on-the-Point

For a real island adventure, consider one of Jennifer Fralick’s cabins on Orcas Island. Found in four different locations, from waterfront cozy to spacious mountain retreat, all are simply, but fully appointed; have excellently equipped kitchens; and are an integral part of their environments. You’ll feel positively enveloped in nature. Cabins-on-the-Point is situated on 3 acres of alternately manicured lawn-garden and raw wilderness. The Heather Cabin is balanced so close to the water’s edge, you might be tempted to dive from the windows right into the bay. Nearly a hundred years old, it is very small but completely inviting. The bedroom’s greatest asset is a three-sided bay window nook, just barely big enough for the queen-sized bed snuggled perfectly into it. In the body of the cabin there’s a captain’s bed, such as you might find on a ship, tucked directly under a window; plus cozy sitting chairs, a stone fireplace, a small dining table, and a wee kitchen. The Primrose Cabin is a converted bunkhouse with low ceilings, skylights, and lots of windows. Hidden in a grove of trees, it has a queen bed, a wood-burning stove, a step-down kitchen, and a small bath with shower. Both these cabins share an outdoor hot tub set under a canopy of tall trees, out near the water’s edge. Whichever location you choose, you are in for a real treat.
