Stalheim Hotel

The first hotel at Stalheim was opened in 1885, and by 1895 had been expanded to cater for about 150 guests. Word of the hotel’s high standard, combined with the stunning view of Nærøydalen valley, travelled abroad. Royalty and other notabilities from far and wide were frequent guests, the most loyal being Keiser Wilhelm II, who visited Stalheim twenty summers in a row.

Though the present hotel building is the fourth in a series of hotels on the site, a special ambience reflecting a personal style, tradition and comfort has been preserved. Lying in the heart of the Norwegian fjords, it is an ideal departure point for tours of Western Norway’s fjords and mountains.

The hotel’s own private Museum of Folk Art is one of the largest in Norway, and well worth a visit.
