Dalen is the Fairytale Hotel. Built in an ornate, romantic style with dragon heads, turrets and spires, balconies, projections and cornices. The hotel has retained its presence and ”soul” and is virtually identical today to the wooden castle that opened in 1894, when royalty and European nobility made special trips to it. Welcome!
Sit down and absorb the ambience in the central hall with its magnificent stained glass windows suspended ten metres above you. This is the heart of the hotel. Both à la carte and regular meals are served in the stately dining room, and private arrangements of various types can be held here. The bar is fully licensed. There is a view of a 7 acre park to the east, towards the enclosed Bandak Fjord. Mountainsides soar steeply in the north, south and east. The canal boats ”Victoria” and ”Henrik Ibsen” sail along the Telemark Canal between Skien and Dalen and on up to Bandak from May to September.
