Stone Hill Inn

Amy created Stone Hill Inn, often called the best accommodation in Stowe, with the aim of offering guests the perfect blend of romance, ambiance, and privacy. Set above the road to the ski mountain, this inn attracts not only skiers, but also more particularly, guests who want a romantic getaway. Off the entry is a games room, a large room with a gas fireplace, sofas, game tables, and a guest pantry where hors d’oeuvres are served. Each of the nine guestrooms, all with identical amenities, opens onto the central garden and uses handsome, regal materials for bedcovers and drapes. I was disappointed in the furniture, which provides the guest with just a pair of armchairs and a covered circular table. A two-sided fireplace is open both to a side wall in the bedroom and the luxurious bath (two sinks, large Jacuzzi tub, separate shower). The most dramatic room and my favorite is the long, narrow breakfast room, which stretches out into the yard and is surrounded on all sides by a full expanse of windows. The tariff seems a bit high, but Stone Hill Inn affords a small, intimate-size inn in a lovely location with privacy and luxury to match.
