Three Mountain Inn

Three Mountain Inn has all you’ll want for as long a time as you can be a guest. This romantic 1790s country inn on the main street of the little town of Jamaica, just under the shadow of the Green Mountains, is ideally located for access to skiing, but also great for Fall foliage, not far from shopping, and perfect for wandering. The living room with its large fireplace is warm and welcoming and the dining rooms are simply but tastefully furnished—what’s complex is the tasty food that comes from the kitchen. The traditionally furnished bedrooms all have private baths and telephones. I stayed in Jamaica, a suite whose living room had a gas fireplace, a sofa and two wing chairs for reading, and Colonial-print wallpaper. The bedroom, painted pale, creamy yellow, had tables with good reading lights on either side of the four-poster queen bed. The Arlington, just down the hall, was furnished with a queen bed, an armoire, a sofa, and a wing chair, and had pale-cream-painted walls; an added luxury was a two-person spa tub. Even though this is a sleepy mountain town, I’d probably choose one of the back rooms to be sure of a night’s rest that is as refreshing as the style and welcome of the innkeepers.
