Home Hill Inn

Home Hill is a gorgeous country-house estate on the banks of the Connecticut River. To reach the inn, we traveled up a beautiful tree-lined drive to the 1818 Federal style brick Mansion. Home Hill Inn is spectacular and I was captivated from the moment we stepped inside. The inn has a wonderful European ambiance with warm Provençal colors washing the interior walls, walls dressed in gorgeous papers, beautiful fabrics selected for the bed spreads and armchairs. The main house accommodates the intimate dining rooms and a few guestrooms. I loved all these rooms but most especially St. Gaudens, one of the coziest—a charming corner room with lots of light that filters over the beautiful rich rose and tans that decorate the rooms. The Carriage House offers six guestrooms, while the pool house provides guest quarters in summer only. Under the artful and incredible direction of chef, Peter Varkonyi, the restaurant is excellent and the setting is memorable. The grounds feature open fields with horses grazing, an outdoor heated pool and red clay tennis court. This is an ideal destination for weddings.
