Notchland Inn Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

The Notchland Inn gives you the chance to get away from it all and yet be within a few miles of lots of activities. Built in the 1860s, this granite mansion is located on 100 acres of the White Mountain National Forest, sitting atop a knoll at the base of one mountain and looking across at two others. The inn has the air of a wonderful old summer home, a feeling that permeates every room. There are seven rooms, six suites, and three cottages, each with a wood-burning fireplace. Carter is a large two-room suite with the fireplace in the bedroom, a queen bed made of cherry with an arched headboard, and handmade stained glass hanging in two windows. There are a sofa and a rocker in the sitting room and a two-person spa tub in the bathroom. Doors open to a large deck with great views. On the second floor of the former one-room schoolhouse is the Dixville Suite, another two-room suite where you can lie in the country-French queen bed and look across the sitting room to the fireplace or to the view from the window. In the bath there’s a large corner soaking tub. The inn’s living room is especially fine, designed by Gustav Stickley, a founder of the Arts and Craft movement, and has lovely furniture of that style. The inn serves a five-course dinner five days a week in a romantic dining room overlooking the gardens and the pond.
