The Squire Tarbox Inn

At the end of a long country road, the Squire Tarbox Inn, a farmhouse dating from 1763 to 1825, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, exudes the peace and quiet of the countryside surrounding it. This rambling colonial farm affords a lovely spot to settle and to enjoy the splendor of being in the country. Sure, you can walk the path that leads to the water’s edge and do some boating but I’d settle in with a good book in front of a wood-burning fire and let time slide by. The common rooms and the cozy dining rooms all have fireplaces. Guests can enjoy the mouth-watering meals created by the Swiss owner and chef. The dinner menu, with an emphasis on local produce from our own organic farm, is an exciting culinary adventure. Bedrooms, generally king, are made up with featherbeds and some have fireplaces. For those who do want to venture out, there are harbors and beaches nearby, plenty of antiquing, shopping at discount stores, countryside excursions, and several fascinating museums with a variety of different themes. The inn’s 11 bedrooms are simply, but very comfortably, decorated.
