Hartwell House

We spent one night only at the Hartwell House in Ogunquit but we would enjoy returning. The inn is in the heart of the village on the main road, easy walking distance to Perkins Cove and along the Marginal Way. While the exterior of the inn is not particularly special architecturally, the grounds are lovely, especially in the rear of the property. We spent one night only at the Hartwell House in Ogunquit but we would enjoy returning. The inn is in the heart of the village on the main road, easy walking distance to Perkins Cove and along the Marginal Way. While the exterior of the inn is not particularly special architecturally, the grounds are lovely, especially in the rear of the property. We stayed in a nice room – Susan B Littlefield – with its sumptuous bedding – but otherwise fairly simply decorated. There was plenty of space in the room and it had a deck which overlooked the backyard. The common rooms were beautifully decorated in traditional furnishings and antiques, all it excellent condition. One of the highlights of our brief stay was a scrumptious breakfast. There were several courses served and at least 3 selections from which to choose. Very impressively served as well. We had little contact with any staff except at breakfast. The innkeeper was gracious about allowing us an extra half hour to check out in the morning when our when inadvertently dawdled a bit longer on our walk on the Marginal Way. We would recommend this inn to anyone interested in staying in Ogunquit.
