Maine Stay Inn and Cottages

The exterior of this beautiful 1860 Victorian, once home to sea captain Melville Walker with wraparound porches and impressive cupola, sets the tone for the style you find inside, where a magnificent suspended spiral staircase winds its way up from the entrance hall. The ground floor has been redecorated and the original oak floors refinished. There are six guestrooms in the main house. Captain’s (16) enjoys a sitting area and the only king bed in the house, while room 12 is cozy with a gas fireplace. There are eleven cottages nestled on the grounds: number 3 benefits from a fireplace and kitchenette and number 6 with two separate bedrooms and a shared living room is popular with families. With so many variations of amenities be sure to discuss your preference for a gas fireplace, whirlpool tub, sitting room, or kitchenette when making reservations. If you stay in one of the cottages, you have the option of either coming to the inn for a full breakfast or having a breakfast basket delivered to your door. The Maine Stay is located a short walk from Dock Square, the center of activity in this little seaside village with charming shops and wonderful seafood restaurants.
