Lodge at Moosehead Lake Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:
Lodge at Moosehead Lake

Magic is everywhere in this northern part of Maine—particularly at the Lodge at Moosehead Lake. It’s hard to imagine anyone more devoted to seeing that guests experience all this part of Maine can offer: dogsledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, touring by plane, hiking, canoeing, or fly fishing in a secret stream or lake in summer. And where else can you go on a moose safari? The Lodge is situated above the lake and frames this magnificent setting. From the common rooms, dining room, or on the expanse of back porch, one is captivated by views overlooking the broad waterscape and islands of the largest lake in Maine. The five bedrooms and four suites are nothing short of fabulous. I stayed in the Bear Room in a hand-carved four-poster queen bed, with bears carved into and perched on its posts. There was a hand-carved bear bench at the foot of the bed, two different sitting areas, and a gas corner fireplace with chair nearby for gazing out at the lake. Twigs are used to create borders instead of moldings and to simulate picture hangings. The decor is clever and artistic, yet rustic throughout.

The Lodge at Moosehead Lake is our new favorite Bed and Breakfast. Moosehead Lake is BEAUTIFUL, and seemed just a stones throw from our room and view. Dennis and Linda, the Innkeepers were wonderful, and provided every bit of help we needed without ever being in the way. Our room was spacious, clean, and ideally furnished. As indicated, the view from our room was spectacular, and the patio outside our room was wonderful for reading and relaxing. We enjoyed hiking, a seaplane ride, and some time on the lake. Dennis prepared 3 scrumptious breakfasts during our stay, and his use of special ingredients is magical. He also prepares a wonderful ’Mooseapolitan’ in ’Chloe’s Pub’ (Chloe is a French Bulldog, and the Lodge Dog), and we are convinced that this should be designated the state drink of Maine. On our next visit...and there WILL BE a next visit, we will schedule a Moose Safari ahead of time. Two other couples at the Lodge had taken safaris, and both were thrilled with their sightings. Our room, the Katahden Room, had two fireplaces, and would be an ideal choice for a romantic get away. We felt that Greenville Maine was very similar to Vancouver Island, but with lots more to do. With biking, skiing, fishing (all kinds), rafting, sea plane opportunities, boating, and Hiking just to name a few of the opportunities, we felt like we could schedule frequent visits to the Lodge at Moosehead Lake, and enjoy both the escape from the ’big city’, and completely different opportunities for many successive visits. One of the finest places we have ever visited, most definitely.

November is a great time to visit the Lodge At Moosehead, as it is a very quiet and serene moment between busy seasons. The hospitality exhibited by the owners was impeccable as was the lodge itself. This was our second time there in November and look forward to returning very soon.
