Inn at Narrow Passage

The Inn at Narrow Passage sits just south of the town of Woodstock and is easily reached using a combination of I-81 and Route 11, formerly known as the Great Wagon Road. Travelers along this route have been coming to the inn since the 1740s and enjoying the large common room with its massive limestone fireplace, pine floors, and comfortable wing chairs. Breakfast is served in the adjoining paneled dining room. The inn’s 12 bedrooms, decorated in a simple Colonial style, have well-equipped, functional bathrooms, queen canopied beds, and comfortable chairs for reading. Some of the rooms are located in the original building, some in newer wings where they open onto porches shared by all. Views from the inn are of the Shenandoah River just below and the Massanutten Mountains to the east. There’s much to do in this area: fishing, horseshoes, and bird watching right on site, horseback riding, hiking, and canoeing nearby. Burgeoning Shenandoah Valley wineries beckon you to taste their products and antique shops abound all along Route 11. Those interested in the Civil War will enjoy knowing Stonewall Jackson made his headquarters here in 1862 and will want to explore the many historic sites and battlefields nearby.
