Karen's Review Of
The Lodge at Glendorn:
Glendorn is a very private family camp, which after many generations of exclusive use by the Dorn family is now open to the public. The compound has a gated entrance and a long, winding drive to the lodge where you are met and escorted to your accommodations. It’s a privilege to become a part, however briefly, of a retreat where you feel as if you are a guest of the family for the weekend and it’s fascinating to look through the photo albums showing generations of Dorns. There’s a cozy, pine-paneled library with chairs and a sofa in front of the fireplace, with a table and chairs to the side. The living room has a massively large stone fireplace and a vaulted ceiling, and it is in this room that guests gather for cocktails before dinner. Tables are set for two so that your time at dinner can be private and the discreet, unhurried service means that you can enjoy your meal at your leisure. Accommodations at Glendorn are either in the main lodge, in the guest house, or in one of the cabins on the property (some with multiple bedrooms) where the only sounds you’re likely to hear are of the brook flowing and rippling as it winds through the grounds. Glendorn also hosts executive retreats, but it is really about another kind of retreat—one where you and someone special can escape to relax and to rejuvenate.
