Karen's Review Of This Property:
Superb and memorable would be two words for the experience of staying at the Antrim 1844 Country House Hotel. Dorothy and Richard Mollett and their team have taken a 19th-century home of great historical importance and created one of the truly great country inns of the United States. The rooms, beautifully decorated with guests’ comfort in mind, are elegant, warm and inviting, with places to sit and read, wonderful beds topped with blissful, feather comforters, crackling fires, bathrooms with spa tubs for two and every amenity the traveler could imagine. The dining room is yet another fabulous experience. Guests gather for drinks and hors d’oeuvres during the pre-dinner hour, then dinner is served in one of many intimate dining rooms. Especially cozy are tables set on the old brick floors of the original kitchen or smoke house. The table set for two under a skylight and with the moon glowing is particularly romantic. Tablecloths to the floor, soft candlelight, polished crystal and silver, and fresh flowers create an extraordinary atmosphere, which is only exceeded by the six-course dinner that follows. Add a great bottle of wine from the inn’s extensive wine cellar and your evening becomes almost idyllic. Too rare are these opportunities and these experiences, for these are what make for lifelong memories.
