Cabañas La Conchita

If you yearn for a thatched hut facing an idyllic white-sand beach studded with coconut palms, the Cabañas La Conchita is your dream come true. However, this bit of paradise is not for everyone: you must be young at heart and have a bit of a bohemian spirit since the guestrooms have no phones, no air conditioning (ceiling fans in 6 rooms), and the lights (which are generated from a solar panel) come on only briefly for a couple of hours in the evening. The flip side is that when you arrive at the Cabañas La Conchita, you leave the real world far behind and fall into a routine of pure bliss, doing nothing more than reading a good book, napping under the palapa on the beach, swimming in the crystal-clear turquoise water, and enjoying evenings by candlelight. This tiny, romantic hotel is owned by Cynthia James and Jorgé Rosales, who originally intended it to be their vacation hideaway; but people kept begging to rent space on their beach, so the idea of a proper inn just evolved. Gifted local craftsmen built the beautiful thatched-roofed cottages. The simple guestrooms exude the perfect blend of comfort, style, and simplicity—thanks to Cynthia’s artist’s eye for color and fabrics. All the cottages are steps from the sea, but the prize is number 1, right on the beach.
