Hacienda Temozón

The 17th-century Hacienda Temozón is a superb hotel with the warmth and charm of a private home, which is exactly what it once was. Not only is it convenient to the Mérida airport (about a 45-minute drive), but it also makes an excellent hub for exploring some of the Yucatán’s most popular archaeological sites. Using the Hacienda Temozón as your home base, you can visit off-the-beaten-path Mayan ruins, convents, stunning old haciendas, and breathtaking cathedrals—the possibilities are endless. The hacienda has been renovated with meticulous care and love, maintaining its marvelous features such as soaring ceilings, wood beams, thick walls, sweeping verandahs, lovely tiles, and arched windows. However, all the creature comforts have been added: air conditioning, direct-dial phones, mini-bars, the finest linens, excellent mattresses, beautiful decor, and wonderful bathrooms. Many of the guestrooms have an individual plunge pool, and the Presidential Suite even has a private swimming pool. In addition, there is a huge, 48-meter pool with a swim-up bar. A floodlit tennis court is tucked into the estate’s old stockyard and, for joggers, a path leads through the hacienda’s 37-hectare garden. The Hacienda Temozón has more guestrooms than its “sister” hacienda-hotels, but it maintains the same intimacy, charm, and incredible service.
