Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel & Bungalows Mayaland, with over 100 acres of parklike grounds, has an unsurpassed setting, right on the grounds of Chichén Itzá, one of Mexico’s premier archaeological sites. The ruins are so close that some of the ancient temples can be seen rising above the jungle. The Mayaland is a large hotel and, because of its strategic location, attracts many sightseeing buses that bring hundreds of guests for lunch. However, it is amazing that this activity really doesn’t distract from the aura of the hotel. Excellent management efficiently handles the day visitors while protecting the privacy of overnight guests. You will really feel pampered and away from the crowds if you splurge and request a room in one of the clusters of bungalows (named after famous archaeologists) that nestle in the lovely gardens. Once you are in your room, the Mayaland has the intimate feeling of a much smaller hotel. The guestrooms are very attractively decorated and there are various swimming pools on the grounds, conveniently located so that you don’t have far to walk to enjoy a refreshing dip. The joy of staying at the Mayaland is that you can stroll over to the ruins before the hordes of tourists arrive in the morning, and again in the evening to watch the Sound and Light show. Many dignitaries have stayed at the hotel, including Pavarotti, for whom one of the cottages is named.
