Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hacienda de los Santos is an absolute dream. If you are anywhere near the Colonial village of Alamos (a wonderful old mining town that in its heyday produced more silver than any other location in Mexico), this hotel is a must. Even if you don’t have plans to be in the area, make a special trip. The Hacienda is a place to experience utter relaxation, to dine superbly, to enjoy the facilities of a lovely spa, and, best of all, to be pampered by an attentive staff. This beautiful inn is the creation of your gracious hosts, Nancy and Jim Swickard, who fell in love with Alamos, bought a 17th-century mansion, and converted it to a jewel of a private home for themselves. It has now evolved into a fantastic small inn with 27 guestrooms, splendid gardens, four swimming pools, two fabulous restaurants (plus a third for private parties), intimate dining rooms, a darling bar serving over 500 kinds of tequila, an exercise room, a spa, and if you arrive by private plane (as 50% of the guests do) there is even a hanger for your plane. High walls enclose the entire property and guestrooms face various romantic patios. All the rooms exude the same superb taste—even the standard rooms are gorgeous and have their own fireplaces. If you want to splurge, request one of the suites, all are breathtaking. At the Hacienda de los Santos you enjoy the facilities of an ultra-deluxe hotel while feeling like a guest of the family—a rare combination.
