Casa de Mita is truly a treasure. Tucked on a small peninsula about half an hour’s drive north of Puerto Vallarta, next door to the super-deluxe Four Seasons Hotel, the intimate, tastefully decorated Casa de Mita offers not only a gorgeous white-sand beach and a lovely swimming pool, but also fabulous dining and genuine warmth of welcome. Best of all, the rate is extremely fair—in our estimation, one of the best values in Mexico. This delightful small inn is owned by Marc Lindskog, your charming host, who fell in love with Mexico many years ago and has made it his permanent home. The hotel has just eight guestrooms, each individual in size and decoration. All are oceanfront and have handcrafted furniture, custom original artwork, beautiful tiled bathrooms with huge showers, and terraces overlooking the sea. The pool, positioned by the beach, is the heart of the hotel. Next to the pool is the restaurant where three wonderful meals a day (included in the room rate) are served. Several choices of entrée are available and there is even a special pastry chef. Marc wants each guest to truly feel like a friend in his home, so even drinks are included in the room rate. In addition, each guestroom has a refrigerator stocked with complimentary cold drinks. There is a minimum three-night stay, but you will quickly decide that this is too short.
