Karen's Review Of This Property:
Uruapan is well known as the avocado capital of the world, but the congested downtown area is not too pretty and lacks any historical ambiance. However, the pine-covered hills surrounding Uruapan are lovely and on the outskirts of town is a real prize—the 1315-acre Eduardo Ruiz Parque Nacional, a wooded natural preserve with countless sparkling clear springs that form the source of the Cupatitzio River. The Hotel Mansión has a prime setting just on the edge of the park, capturing views of it from the large windows of the charming dining room. The architecture of the mansion mimics the colonial style and has a charming rustic appeal. Mexican handicrafts and regional artwork decorate the walls and are used throughout in the furnishings. The bedrooms are spacious, bright, and cheerful, with large windows looking out to the garden, and all have fine, very attractive, dark-wood furniture hand-painted with birds and other popular native motifs. All the rooms have satellite TVs, telephones, safes, hairdryers, and radios. The hotel, which wraps around a splendid central garden highlighted by a very large swimming pool, is justifiably famous for its gardens, which are outstanding—no matter what the season, you find gorgeous beds of flowers and hanging plants everywhere. The flower theme continues throughout the hotel with fresh flowers in all the rooms.
