Karen's Review Of This Property:
If you want to be within walking distance to the picturesque heart of Guadalajara (called Centro Histórico), the moderately-priced Hotel Morales makes an excellent choice for accommodations. It is located just three blocks from one of the city’s treasures—its 16th-century cathedral. The hotel was originally a private mansion, built in colonial style with galleries surrounding an inner courtyard. In the early 1900s two additional stories were added and the home was converted to a hotel that became an instant success—it was the place to see and be seen. All the celebrities flocked here including Mexico’s legendary bull fighters, renowned artists, illustrious movie stars, and prestigious politicians. But this Golden Era ended and the structure was abandoned for more than 30 years. After a two-year renovation the hotel reopened in 2005 and is now the prime place to stay in the historic part of the city. During the restoration care was taken to respect the hotel’s original classic ambiance as verified by a charming stone fountain highlighting the atrium and a series of arches leading into comfortable sitting areas and the restaurant. However, all modern amenities were added to the attractively decorated guestrooms such as top notch bathrooms, free high-speed internet access, satellite TV, air conditioning and coffee maker. For meals, the hotel offers the Ruedo Restaurant (Bullring Restaurant). There is also a rooftop garden with views of the city.
