Karen's Review Of
Hotel Las Palmas:
Hotel Las Palmas:
Over a rough road, fifteen minutes from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport and five minutes from the fishing village of Barra de Potosi, is the Hotel Las Palmas, a romantic hideaway owned by Shari and Scott Crawford who, while on an around-the-world tour, conceived the idea of leaving their careers in Phoenix and opening a small luxury hotel. After a visit to Playa Blanca, they knew they had found the perfect secluded spot and commissioned one of Zihuatanejo’s premier architects to build their dream. The design is excellent, featuring a thatched palapa roof and high ceilings that allow ocean breezes to cool you as you enjoy the quiet evening. The four downstairs bedrooms are air-conditioned, while ceiling fans and sea breezes cools the ones upstairs. The rooms all come with king-sized beds and wooden shutters to keep out the early-morning light and the afternoon sun. All bedrooms face the ocean and you can watch the sunset from your private deck. The practically deserted beach in front of the hotel is glorious and you can walk endlessly in either direction, often without seeing another soul. Although the surf here is treacherous for swimming, this is not a problem as there is a gorgeous infinity swimming pool that sits just below the outside dining room. This hotel is for adults only. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and lunch and dinner can be had upon request.

Without a doubt, Scott and Shari have made one of the greatest hotels ever conceived. The rooms are outstanding, the location amazing, the hospitality endless, the food magnificent, the beach secluded and the staff super duper nice. I’ve been to the hotel on three occasions, and i find myself juggling my desire to visit other destinations with the need to spend time relaxing in a hammock, sipping a cool drink under a palapa, and enjoying this jewel on the pacific coast. On second thought, I ...
