Karen's Review Of This Property:
We have explored the quaint cobbled streets in Taxco many times looking for a charming small boutique hotel. Since Taxco is so picturesque and is a favorite destination for travelers, we have broadened our spectrum and suggest the Hotel Agua Escondida. Its setting cannot be surpassed—right in the heart of colorful Taxco, facing directly onto the main square with all the silver shops and sightseeing attractions within walking distance. The exterior of the hotel reflects its 18th-century heritage with white-washed thick adobe walls, stone portals, and a typical Mexican red-tiled roof. Because this historic building spreads up a hill and dates back many centuries, the guestrooms vary in size and are located on many levels that are accessed through a maze of hallways. Request one of the larger guestrooms with a good-sized bathroom, everything seems to be priced the same. The décor, although simple, reflects the hotel’s Colonial heritage with terracotta floors, wrought iron fixtures, colorful hand-woven fabrics, and carved wood furnishings. Meals are served in the Hacienda Restaurant, but be sure also to go to the El Terraza bar on the rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a cold drink, a cup of coffee, dessert or a glass of wine along with a stunning view. There is also a swimming pool tucked up amongst the rooftops.
