Karen's Review Of This Property:
For location, the Hotel Majestic just can’t be beat—not at any price. It overlooks Mexico City’s colorful zócolo (main square), national palace, and spectacular cathedral. However, it is not just location that makes the Majestic such a winner: it brims with character. From the moment you walk into the lobby, which glows with soft light, you are transported back to another era. Here you find a handsome red-tile floor, a beamed ceiling, arched coves, intimate sitting niches, elaborate bouquets of fresh flowers, potted palms, a stone fountain, and richly-hued mosaics—predominantly blue and white with a touch of yellow. These beautiful mosaic tiles are the hallmark of the Hotel Majestic and richly enhance the staircases, hallways, and public rooms. You reach the guestrooms, which are simple with a 1930s-style decor, by an old-fashioned elevator or up a winding staircase. Don’t expect luxury, but the rooms are very comfortable and have air conditioning, security boxes, mini-bars, cable TVs, and telephones. Be sure to ask for a room overlooking the zócolo. The Majestic’s renowned restaurant, the Terraza, located on the seventh floor, has a stunning balcony around two sides, which affords a prime view of the cathedral. A bountiful buffet breakfast (included) is served here each morning. Although not super-deluxe, this Best Western hotel offers incredible value and is one of our personal favorites.
