Palazzo Sant’Angelo sul Canal Grande

A stay at the intimate and exclusive Palazzo Sant’Angelo offers guests an idea of what it was like to live in a private palazzo of nobility directly on the Grand Canal, complete with private front dock. The Bocca family, owners of eight other luxury hotels in Italy, had the centuries-old palazzo completely refurbished for private and guest use in 2004. Just fourteen bedrooms on the three upper floors are available (mostly junior suites and suites), either with front or side canal or garden views, and boast sparkling gray-and-white or green Carrara marble bathrooms with hydro jet tubs. Striped royal red and gold is the predominant color scheme throughout the classic hotel decor in carpeting, brocade draperies, silk wall fabrics and bedspreads. The spacious front lobby with Palladian designed marble floors, leads to a side bar with lead-paned windows looking out to the passing gondolas. A living room with antiques, sofa, and a gray-stone fireplace sits directly opposite the bar while the breakfast room looking out to a side canal is to the back of the palazzo. A full buffet breakfast is served here. The friendly and attentive staff can make personal suggestions for restaurants, cultural events, private guides, and concerts.
