Relais La Tenuta del Gallo

The beautifully renovated Relais Tenuta del Gallo (which opened its doors to guests in 2008) has an excellent location: convenient to the romantic hill towns of Umbria and Tuscany, and also nearby the Sabine Hills which lie just to the south. This 17th-century country farmhouse sits on a gentle rise of a hill surrounded by a magnificent 20-hectare private estate. The setting is supreme with absolutely nothing to mar the natural beauty of the landscape. In every direction all you see are vast olive groves, fruit orchards, fields of wheat, gently rolling hills, and distant wooded mountains. The handsome, creamy-beige stone exterior of this farmhouse gives little hint of the luxurious elegance you will find within, including15th-century furniture, sumptuous fabrics, fine paintings, soft lighting, oriental carpets, and hand-painted ceilings. Much of the food served in the attractive restaurant is freshly prepared from produce grown on the property. To accompany your meal, you have the choice an extensive selection of fine wines (ask to see the incredible wine cellar). The guestrooms are all tastefully decorated and offer views of the countryside. The hotel opens to a garden that is highlighted by a pretty swimming pool with sweeping valley vistas.
