The Villa Il Poggiale is an intimate, elegant boutique hotel. This traditional Tuscan country villa dating to the Renaissance period has had such illustrious proprietors as noble families Corsini, Martini, and Ricasoli-Rucellai, and has been in the Vitta family for the past 50 years. Brothers Johanan and Nathanel have brought the family residence back to its former glory, transforming it from a private country home to an exclusive inn, with no expense spared on beauty, comfort and modern conveniences. On the ground floor you find the splendidly decorated grand main salon plus another smaller one off which three of the generous bedrooms and suites with antique furnishings and lovely new bathrooms are found. Soft-peach, olive-green, and pale-yellow color schemes are displayed in fine fabrics used for bedspreads, draperies, and upholstery. Other frescoed bedrooms upstairs are nicely spaced apart by three additional sitting rooms, the most desirable being those away from the main road. A full buffet breakfast featuring homemade cakes and local specialties is served in the garden terrace, which leads down to the swimming pool with its extraordinary views of the picture-perfect Tuscan landscape. This is a luxurious villa where you will feel like guest in a private home. April to October a traditional Tuscan buffet dinner is also offered.
