Villa Le Barone

The Villa Le Barone was once the home of the famous Tuscan Della Robbia family, whose beautiful terracottas are still seen throughout Italy. It was restored after the First World War by Marchesa Maria Bianca Viviani Della Robbia as a wine estate and later converted into a deluxe boutique hotel by her granddaughter, Duchessa Franca Visconti. Now her cousins, Conte Corso Aloisi and his wife, are the owners. They frequently live in the villa, greet guests and ensure that the impeccable standards and taste prevail. Staying at the Villa Le Barone is very much like being the guest in a private, elegant home set in the gorgeous Tuscan hills in front of the San Leolino abbey. The lounges are especially inviting, beautifully furnished with charming, family antiques. There are 28 guestrooms, all of which vary in size with modern tiled bathrooms and are individually decorated. Rooms are in the main villa or in renovated cottages and barns. Some have their own terrace. The tennis court has a breathtaking view over the Chianti hills and there is a lovely swimming pool, romantically set on a terrace looking over the vineyards and rose garden. Wonderful little hideaways are found secluded in the park-like setting where guests can find a quiet nook to read or just to sit and soak in the beauty of the surrounding hills. Dinner is served in the restaurant, which formerly housed the winery.
