San Biagio Relais

The island-like promontory of Argentario, facing the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, has always been a favorite seaside resort for Romans. Located on a narrow strip of land connecting Argentario to the mainland is the quaint historic town of Orbetello. Here you find the charming San Biagio Relais dating back to 1851. The Magnosi family restored the palazzo, creating the feeling of a nobleman’s home, not only in the period furnishings, but also with the preservation of the original architectural features of the palazzo itself. Some of these attractive details include the high-ceilinged guestrooms with frescoed borders, each of which has a marble travertine bathroom. The family’s antique pieces adorn the intimate upstairs sitting room with fireplace.  The addition of 28 rooms in an adjacent connecting building, offers guests a choice of décor, with the newer rooms and bi-level suites having a more contemporary style. Common areas include a breakfast room, two lounges and a characteric double courtyard, reminiscent of the 18th century Spanish domain. This outdoor area is used in summer for a buffet breakfast with a delightful assortment of homebaked cakes, or for the aperitif hour.
