Montorio:
Montorio makes an excellent base for exploring Tuscany and Umbria: spacious, guestrooms; glorious setting; spectacular views; cooking facilities; large modern bathrooms; and moderate prices. This 15th-century stone farmhouse is perched on a hill surrounded by olive groves, vineyards, and towering cypress trees. The views are awesome with nothing to disturb the mood of serenity except perhaps for the song of birds and the ringing of church bells. The beautiful walled town of Montepulciano is nearby and from the terrace of Montorio you can also see the charming Renaissance church of San Biagio. The inn is self-catering which means that each room has its own kitchenette and, unlike a hotel, there is not a manager on site so you need to arrive between 4–7 pm when someone is there to check you in. Some self-catering properties do not have daily maid service and charge for utilities, but the Montorio has daily maid service (except on Sunday) and includes all utilities. Each of the suites has a kitchen or kitchenette and is tastefully decorated with pleasingly simple Tuscan-style, antique furniture. Centuries-old trees and flowers cascading from terracotta pots embellish the delightful terrace.
It is important to note that there is not a resident manager on site, however, there will be someone available to welcome you between the hours of 4pm and 7pm. If you arrive after hours, the property is connected with the hotel Villa Poggiano and the manager is available 24 hours. Tel: (0578) 75 82 92
