Karen's Review Of This Property:

The refurbished Hotel Silla is located on the left bank of the River Arno opposite Santa Croce, the famous 13th-century square and church where Michelangelo and Galileo are buried. This position offers views from some of the rooms of several of Florence’s most notable architectural attractions—the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, and the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio. Housed on the second and third floors of a lovely 15th-century palazzo with courtyard entrance, 36 new and spotless double rooms (non-smoking upon request) with private baths are pleasantly decorated with simple dark-wood furniture and matching bedspreads and curtains. Air conditioning and an elevator were recently added necessities. The fancy, cream-colored reception area is appointed in 17th-century Venetian style, with period furniture, a chandelier, and large paintings. Breakfast is served on the splendid and spacious second-floor outdoor terrace or in the dining room overlooking the Arno. The Silla is a friendly, convenient, and quiet hotel, near the Pitti Palace, leather artisan shops, and many restaurants. It offers tourists a good value in pricey Florence. A parking garage is available.

Starting with the link from this site to the Hotel Silla’s site through requesting reservations, confirming the reservations, adding additional days to the reservation and a final confirmation a few days before we arrived, the staff was responsive, informative and polite. We booked transfers from and to the Florence airport through the hotel and the service was right there upon our arrival. We left Florence for 11 days and returned the night before our trip home. The transfer at 4:30am for a 6:30am flight went off without a hitch. There are literally hundreds of restaurants in Florence so we asked for recommendations for dinner. After listening to our requirements, they made not one but four recommendations and reservations. Because the reservations were made by the hotel, we received great service and great tables. There are so many choices for hotels in Florence that any first hand information is invaluable. We highly recommend the Hotel Silla to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel in a residential area directly across the river from the museums and 5 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio with the most awesome staff and great espresso!
