Poggio Sant’Angelo

This February I stopped at the Poggio Sant’Angelo Country House & Ristorante, and was really taken by the beautiful inn. It has just been completely redone with truly luxury amenities, including my favorite “heated flooring’, Tuscan color scheme, beautiful and relaxing gardens, with a countryside feeling. And true Tuscan atmosphere in the Cortona region (Under the Tuscan Sun). So close to Siena, Florence, etc. As well as short distance to Umbria. Just a perfect stay, with excellent service and meals. Italian hospitality at its best. It would have been delightful to take advantage of the outdoor swimming pool had it been spring or summer. Luca, the host, was knowledgeable and created several itineraries for us that we could never have done on our own. The chef is a lovely young woman who comes from the Spoleto area and serves very creative meals with a more Umbrian classic feel. Lots of fresh/organic vegetables and wonderful faro dishes.
