Villa Galante

As experienced independent travelers, to many parts of the Mediterranean, we have experienced the highs and lows of holiday accommodation over the years. Villa Galante is definitely a quality establishment. Located in quiet private road above the main town of Taormina, Villa Galante sits high on the hill overlooking the bay, with spectacular views that will take your breath away. It is a fifteen minute walk to the centre of town, and although we did hire a car, we did walk into town every evening for dinner and back up the hill afterwards Taormina is not a place to take a car in the evening, as there are very few places to park and a car becomes a liability, but there are plenty of cabs and local buses available, if you cannot face the walk back. We felt safe at all times during our stay and walking back to the apartment late at night was not an issue We rented the first floor apartment for nine days to use as a base to explore north east Sicily and we were very impressed. Spotlessly clean, spacious with a well appointed kitchen and bathroom, this was ideal for our needs. Personally, to find an apartment with a large shower with constant hot water available at anytime of the day or night was perfect after a hard day on the beach or seeing the sights! The added bonus was the terrace and the view over the bay, a fantastic place to wind down with a glass of wine and enjoy the beautiful scenery Mike and Rose are ideal hosts, low profile but there if you need them, their door was always open and nothing was too much trouble. Their intimate knowledge of Taormina and surrounding areas is so worthwhile, particularly for dining out, local beaches and excursions. If there is a perfect formula for how to run a rental property, they have pretty much have it. We look forward to visiting again in the future
