Relais Villa Matilde

The Villa Matilde, ancestral summer residence of the noble Bocca family, maintains its original aura of an 18th-century patrician villa. This lovely villa is located at the edge of a small village halfway between Turin and the Alps. Original tiled floors, frescoed salons and library, domed main hall with balcony have been preserved. Twelve of the bedrooms are actually within the historic home on the two upper floors, each individually appointed with antiques, chandeliers, parquet floors and rich fabrics and bed linens, while the remaining newer rooms are divided between the ex-orangerie and a restored farmhouse, all part of the rural complex accessed by an inner brick courtyard. Adjacent to the guesthouse is a swimming pool, tennis court and small spa center. The gourmet restaurant concentrating on regional recipes has been created from the original horse stalls directly off the main reception area where a very helpful staff is on duty to assist guests. A country-style buffet breakfast is served in a dainty front parlor. This northern section of the Piedmont region is well-known for its excellent food and fine wines and has the strategic advantage of being near the Turin with its myriad of cultural events, the castle area south of Aosta, and the Mont Blanc.
