Hotel de la Ville

The Hotel de la Ville is a gem of a hotel. The location just couldn’t be more perfect—a few minutes’ walk takes you to La Scala, the spectacular Duomo, or to the Galleria, Milan’s romantic glass-domed shopping arcade. The exterior, a modern glass-and-stone façade, doesn’t prepare you for the interior, which exudes a cozy, old-world charm. You enter into a lovely reception area, softly illuminated from a domed skylight. Just off the reception is a cozy lounge in a color scheme of rich green and gold. An intimate cherry-paneled bar is tucked in one corner, discreetly available for afternoon tea or an aperitif. The ambiance is one of genteel, old-world elegance. The individually decorated guestrooms all boast of the same quality: the walls are covered with elegant Italian silk fabric that color-coordinates with the fabric on the beds and draperies. All rooms have modernized bathrooms, beautifully tiled with marble in tones of beige, cream, or green. The hotel’s L’Opera Restaurant is well known for its regional cuisine and vintage wine cellar. Other wonderful features of the hotel are the rooftop swimming pool and fitness center. The son and daughter of the founder, the late Count Bocca, continue his tradition of excellence and the finest hospitality.
