Hotel Florence

What a lovely gem. We had a marvelous room with a balcony overlooking the lake and the romantic terrace restaurant. The Ketzlar family were all very gracious and helpful. My daughter gave me the gift of a massage in the spa which was wonderful. A lovely spa on the second floor. The breakfast was superb as were the two dinners we ate, one in the restaurant due to rain and one on the terrace. We definitely recommend Hotel Florence and hope to return.

Hotel Florence is indeed a lovely place to stay, wonderful location at the tip of Bellagio on Lake Como, couldn’t choose a better spot on the entire lake! We had a nice room, decorated in black and white with two slipper chairs, hardwood floors and matching drapes, headboard and pillows. Hotel Florence is indeed a lovely place to stay, wonderful location at the tip of Bellagio on Lake Como, couldn’t choose a better spot on the entire lake! We had a nice room, decorated in black and white with two slipper chairs, hardwood floors and matching drapes, headboard and pillows. Nice bathroom but only a tub with handheld shower head, no proper shower. The breakfast was nice and civilized. Italian breakfasts are normally very simple, a coffee and bread, but Hotel Florence offered an expanded buffet with cereals, fresh fruit salad, breads, coronettos, yogurt, juices, cake, and most impressive, scrambled eggs and bacon! We had our choice of coffees served in silver coffeepots and the room was lovely as well. The view from our room’s balcony was lovely, with the covered terrace across the street and it’s black tied waiters scurrying across the street with their trays. The other lakeside towns were in view as well. The overall location is superb, with the Hotel Serbolloni right across the street. The airport windows are superb; once closed, our room was completely quiet. Unfortunately, we did not dine at the restaurant, the menu didn’t appeal to us. But we found a lovely little place with a lakeside view, La Pergola, that was off the beaten path and had wonderful food. We also ate at The Bellagina (I think?), on the upstairs terrace with views of the opposite leg of the lake. The pizza and pasta and pizza-sized garlic bread was amazing there!! Family run and nice people. We would recommend the Hotel Florence, and would give it 5 stars had there been a shower as well. Again, most noteworthy was the breakfast. As much as we have traveled, having moved from California 10 years ago and used Karen Brown’s recommendations for our family, this breakfast is one of the most noteworthy in Europe. Normally we travel with our two girls but this time it was just the two of us, and this was perfect. Met Timothy, and he was friendly and helpful, as was the entire.
