Hotel Royal Court

We chose the Royal Court as a small hotel alternative in the vicinity of the main train station primarily because of its friendly staff, high quality accommodation and service level with the bonus of affordable rates in an otherwise expensive city. Originally a private town house, the 100-year-old home was recently revamped and under the capable hands of hoteliers the Di Rienzo brothers (Inn and View at the Spanish Steps in our hotel guide) is another winner. The 24 comfortable rooms in gold and burgundy combinations are tastefully and individually appointed in classic style with antique furnishings, parquet floors and nice new marble bathrooms, a few with hydro-jet baths. A full range of amenities including modem connection for personal computers, increase with the range of room type – from standard, deluxe to executive. A full buffet breakfast is offered in the elegant breakfast room downstairs. Outdoor spaces are also found in the inner courtyard or on the rooftop terrace, a section reserved for one of the guestrooms. The impressive extra services and facilities list (40 in all!) include tea-room, meeting room for up to 30 participants, pick up service from airport on request, travel desk, complimentary newspaper, laundry and dry cleaning and room service and rivals that of a four or five star hotel at a third of the cost.
