Agriturismo La Pecora Ladra

My husband and I were recently visiting Maremma, the Mediterranean seaside area north of Rome when we came across the new Agroturismo Hotel The Pecora Ladra. What a surprise we had as we drove up the long,tree lined lane that lead us to a charming building, surrounded by beautiful gardens in a country setting. Because we were early in the tourist season we were able to reserve a room for the night and a table for the evening meal in the restored farm house dining room. Once again we were pleasantly surprised by our accommodations which turned out to be a small apartment (45m2) composed of a sitting room, a fully equipped convenience kitchen, and bathroom on the ground floor and on the mezzanine above, an open bedroom and adjoining wc. All of this was tastefully decorated in wonderful fabrics, welcoming colours and fine antique furniture. The usual necessities such as television, telephones, coffee machine and a safe were included in the apartment. Twelve similar apartments were grouped together in the guest accommodation building and were surrounded by lovely flowered individual terrasses and beautiful gardens. A short walk down the path lead to the original farmhouse which has been transformed into communal area for guests. A traditional dining room for 12 people, a comfortable sitting room and smoking room were to be found here. As with the apartments, these rooms were also beautifully decorated keeping in style the country look. A large swimming pool (250 m2)surrounded by flowering terrasses was adjacent to the farm house and from this area one had a splendid view of the countryside and sea in the background. The gardens were beautifully kept, the apartments fastidiously clean, the traditionally prepared food served at breakfast and supper was superb. All of this was attended to by the charming owner Mr. Giogio Pasqualini who did his utmost to make our visit special. And a success it was. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and stayed on for 4 nights, only leaving because a tour of Sicily awaited us. My husband and I truly recommend this magical spot to all who wish to enjoy a unique experience in luxurious accommodations and beautiful surroundings.
