The sienna-and-cream-colored, Liberty-style Villa Cheta Elite is located on the main coastal road just south of Acquafredda. A steep path winds up through the garden to the hotel, which has a series of tall French doors opening onto a shaded terrace where glimpses of the sea can be seen through the flowers and the trees. The hotel retains the genuine warmth and charm of a private home, without any hint of the formal commercialism of a hotel. Throughout there is a comfortable lived-in, old-fashioned elegance. Stefanie, the exceptionally gracious young owner, personally supervises every detail in the operation of her small hotel and welcomes one and all as personal guests. Each bedroom is charmingly decorated using family antiques. One of my favorites, room 44, is an exceptionally pretty, spacious, corner room. When the weather is balmy guests eat dinner on the terrace whose white wrought-iron tables are prettily set with hand-embroidered linens and bouquets of flowers from the garden. The home-cooked meals are outstanding—we highly recommend you request the meal plan. If you prefer small, family-owned hotels to the sophisticated glamour of resort-style hotels along this magical coast of southern Italy, the Villa Cheta Elite will definitely win your heart.

The Romantik Hotel Villa Cheta Elite is a small Art Nouveau villa with a dreamy view of the Mediterranean Ocean. Nestled in an exquisite garden, it is an oasis of relaxation.
