Coolclogher House
You would never dream that all the hurly-burly of Killarney town is just down the road when you look out of Coolclogher House to the rolling parkland and distant hills of Killarney. Mary and Maurice Harnett have restored the house to perfection, furnished it with splendid antiques and lovely paintings, and added all the mod cons such as satellite TV and internet. There’s not a small room in the place which gives you lots of scope to make yourself comfortable. King-sized beds with hand ironed Egyptian cotton sheets guarantee a good nights sleep. Energetic guests can enjoy a run to Killarney National Park before breakfast. While the Harnetts welcome individual guests on a bed and breakfast basis, do not be disappointed if you cannot secure a reservation for an individual room as they also rent the house on a self-catering basis (sleeps 10-12). When the house is rented the Harnett family decamps to a self-contained wing. Guests love the proximity to Muckross House, the Killarney Lakes, Torc waterfall and bustling Killarney town with its restaurants and music. Nearby golf courses include Killarney, Beaufort, Ballybunion, Tralee, Dooks and Waterville.

We consider our stay at Coolclogher to be one of the most special experiences of our pretty extensive travel life. Completely elegant yet completely relaxing. We have never stayed in a more beautiful house, or in more beautiful surroundings. Upon arriving, we immediately wished we could stay longer, as it was clear we would be wanting not only to see the local sights, but also to spend several days just around the house, enjoying each room and every conceivable view.
