Coopershill

Simon O’Hara is the seventh generation of his family to call Coopershill home since it was built in 1774. It is one of those wonderful places that offer the best of both worlds—the luxury of a country house hotel and the warmth of a home. You can even rent the entire place on a weekly basis for a house party. Simon welcome guests to his family home through the massive front door into the stove-warmed hall whose flagged floor is topped by an Oriental rug, and where rain gear hangs at the ready. Beyond lies a parade of lovely rooms tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished with grand, antique furniture, much of which is as old as the house itself. All but three of the bedrooms have the original four-poster or half-tester beds, but, of course, with modern mattresses. All the bedrooms are large and have private bathrooms. The only one with its bathroom down the hall requires an instruction manual to operate its magnificent shower! Ancestors’ portraits gaze down upon you in the dining room, set with tables to accommodate individual parties. After an excellent dinner, guests chat round the fire over coffee. Secluded by 500 acres of farm and woodland, there are many delightful walks. Boating and fishing are available. There is enough sightseeing to justify spending a week here.
