Romantik Hotel Hof Zur Linde

Situated in the little village of Handorf just outside the town of Münster, the Romantik Hotel Hof Zur Linde is as lovely inside and out as the brochure depicts. It is a complex of old farm buildings connected by courtyards and surrounded by grassy lawns and woodlands leading down to a river. At dinnertime you can choose from a selection of dining rooms. These are all actually adjoining, but each has been done in a totally different style so that you move from a light-pine-paneled room with gay red-gingham curtains where you dine in cozy booths to one with stucco walls and beams, a huge walk-in fireplace, flagstone floors, and hams hung from the ceiling. The main dining room is more formal with its tapestry-covered chairs and starched white linens. The menu is extensive, the food delicious, and the service friendly and efficient. Bedrooms are upstairs in the main building, in a lovely old farmhouse just a few steps away, or in one of the charming cottages located on the river’s edge. You may find yourself sleeping in a bed that was made for British royalty or in a rustic pine bed beneath a curtained canopy. Summer mornings find Herr Löfken, the hotel owner, busy adjusting bicycles and providing maps for guests setting off to explore the area.
