We loved this inn! My husband stayed here a few years ago and was so impressed that I was eager to try it on my recent first visit to the Rhine Valley. Of course the beautiful May weather didn’t hurt - the grounds were lush with blooming spring flowers and an abundantly green garden and lawn. The reception staff was very kind and even upgraded us from the least expensive room to a junior suite at no additional charge (however our affiliation with the local business school may have had a bearing on this). The ’junior suite’ was definitely more charming and comfortable though size was more typical of a standard US room. The room looked out on the lawns to the west and we welcomed the fact that closed windows would block the sound of nearby passing trains as this was a regular occurrance throughout the night. In the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant we enjoyed the seasonal white asparagus menu with local friends on the patio. The buffet breakfast cost extra but was served in a sunny bistro with a nice variety of offerings from cold cuts to scrambled eggs. The woman overseeing the activity was competent and friendly. We found no other options in this small sleepy village. The Kronenschlossen is my choice for a visit to this region.
