Karen's Review Of
The Schlosshotel Rheinsberg is located north of Berlin in the idyllic Müritz National Park, a splendid, heavily forested region dotted with lakes. Most of the small towns in the area are nice, but not outstanding. However, Rheinsberg is the exception—it is right on the lake with pretty painted houses facing the village green, a dock where you can hop on a boat to explore the lake, and a stunning castle. For many years this cute town was lacking in good accommodations, but that changed instantly when Titus-Rex Gièse purchased two bankrupt hotels in the center of town, renovated them with excellent taste and top-notch quality, and opened both in 2003 as beautiful small hotels. Schlosshotel Rheinsberg is the more lavish in terms of decoration. Sitting on a corner, the pastel yellow building with soft blue-gray trim and red-tile roof is instantly appealing. Inside, the most dramatic room is the large, lavish restaurant with peach-colored walls with white trim, gleaming hardwood floors, a large chandelier, and, highlighted in the middle of the room, a white grand piano. Guests can also dine in another pleasing restaurant that shares the same room as a stunning bar. The guestrooms are spacious and very attractive with traditional style décor and include all the amenities of a fine hotel. The hotel wraps around a central garden courtyard, an inviting area with tables and chairs shaded by umbrellas.
