Karen's Review Of
Hotel Müller:
Hotel Müller:
Visitors flock to Hohenschwangau to visit the fanciful Schloss Neuschwanstein, the astonishing fantasy castle that Bavarian King Ludwig II built as a retreat from the world. Sitting directly between the castle and Schloss Hohenschwangau, the delightful village of Hohenschwangau throngs with day visitors. Consider staying for a night or two because after the day-trippers leave, the castles are yours to admire, particularly Neuschwanstein hovering high above the valley on its hilltop perch. Bedrooms 25 and 45, as well as suites 24 and 30, offer you Neuschwanstein views from your bed but many afford a glimpse from your balcony. I was also captivated by rooms looking up to Hohenschwangau Castle: room 55, a great value as a standard room with a spectacular view and room 16, a superior room with its own terrace. Whichever room you stay in, you will enjoy your sojourn at this delightful hotel built in 1910 and extended with a wing of traditional rooms in the 1980s. Bedrooms in the old house have high ceilings and a tailored look, while those in the new have a traditional Bavarian decor. Horse-drawn carriage rides to Neuschwanstein leave from doorstep. A perfect base from which to explore Bavaria, the Hotel Müller also affords accommodation with memorable views and a staff that ensures a warm welcome and comfortable stay.

We did not have reservations, but the staff at Hotel Muller was very pleasant and even asked if they could help us with reservations to see the castles. We opted for a balcony room and were very surprised by the size of the balcony. It was the size of a room in itself, complete with a table and chairs and several lounge chairs.
